Church together in the Netherlands: a foundation for and by the International Christian Communities in Rotterdam and the surrounding area. The foundation was founded in 2007 by a number of pastors from these communities with the vision to join forces and work together. This view is based on the call for unity among Christians in John 17 and 1 Corinthians 12, among others: ‘A body is a unity that consists of many parts; despite their multiplicity, all those parts together form one body. So it is with the body of Christ’. Jesus calls on Christians not to make any distinction based on, for example, origin or form. The diversity of Christianity is a great strength, because it allows it to take on meaning for all kinds of different people in a way that suits them.
SKIN-Rotterdam wants the international Christian communities to be a powerful positive voice in Rotterdam society and, where possible, outside it. To achieve this, it is necessary that as many international Christian communities in Rotterdam as possible join SKIN-Rotterdam. It is estimated that there are 175 -200 international Christian communities in Rotterdam. SKIN-Rotterdam’s spearheads are ‘Stable Organisations’ and ‘Healthy Families’. Healthy families form the basis for the stable organization of the Christian international communities. Conversely, stable organizations also help for a healthy family life within the communities.
